1 bunch scallions, thinly sliced, white and green parts separated
1-1/2 cups bell peppers (about 1 large), finely chopped
3 cups cornmeal
2-1/4 cups flour
1 Tbsp. baking powder
1 Tbsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper
1 cup corn kernels
¼ cup sugar
½ cup vegetable oil
1-3/4 cups buttermilk
